Jimi Hendrix was born Johnny Allen Hendrix in Seattle Washington in 1947. He had a club/band career in the US before moving to England where the Jimi Hendrix Experience was formed. The band’s 3 albums are in the top 100 greatest albums of all-time. Remembered for singles, “All Along the Watchtower”, “Hey Joe”, “Purple Haze” and “The Wind cries Mary”. Jimi was Rolling Stone Magazine’s performer of the year in 1968 and was voted the World’s top musician the same year. He headlined Woodstock in 1969 and the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970. He died age 27 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
