Humphrey Lyttleton was a self-taught trumpet player who became well known for his single “Bad Penny Blues”. He had a long and successful career as a jazz band leader performing with Helen Shapiro and Elkie Brooks. He was also a successful cartoonist and calligrapher. Lyttleton went on to host BBCs The Best of Jazz for 40 years as well as BBCs longest running panel game I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue. He was posthumously awarded BBC Jazz Musician of the Year in 2008.
